Finding a Percentage of a Number

2. 2What Is One Cell Worth?A percent has no weight of its own — first you must know what 1% of the WHOLE is worth. Zoom into one cell: the whole grid of 200 kg shared equally over 100 cells makes one cell 200 ÷ 100 = 2 kg.1% of 200 kg = 2 kg
3. 3Write It as a DivisionPull back out. Under the grid, the division assembles from what was just counted: 200 ÷ 100 = 2 kg — the 200 grows out of the whole-grid caption, and the 2 kg flies down from the very cell we zoomed into.200 ÷ 100 = 2 kg
4. 4Multiply UpOne cell is 2 kg, and the sold part has 25 cells: 2 × 25 = 50 kg. The 25 in the multiplication is the 25% label itself, flown down from the grid.2 × 25 = 50 kg
